Winery: Famille Descombe

  • Organic conversion

  • Semi-carbonic maceration

  • 10 days on skins

  • Concrete tank fermentation with natural yeast

  • Worth noting this 'Village' wine punches well above it's weight (replacing a Fleurie and Morgon on previous lists!). Plum and red berry forward, silky smooth tannins, great length - wow.

Château Pougelon, with it's granite terroir is situated on the edge of the Southern Cru of Brouilly, is a family estate since 1662 and is now represented by the 5th generation of familie Descombe.

Now overseen by son and daughter Kevin and Carole Descombe, who have been working on regenerative farming and organic conversation within their vineyards.

This wine, produced with 100% Gamay Noir using semi-carbonic maceration in concrete tanks, using natural yeasts, with 10 days on skins and zero added sulphites.

If you're a fan of Beaujolais, this is a must try!

  • Sulphites are a natural biproduct of fermentation. As a fermented product, this wine contains sulphites.
